Our Story

Welcome to The Chicken Barm - our little corner of Solihull where a love of chickens has grown into something much bigger than we ever expected.

What started with a small family flock quickly became more chickens, more breeds, our first hatches and, eventually, The Chicken Barm.

The name itself came from our son, George, who mixed up the words barn and farm one day - and “The Chicken Barm” stuck. We couldn't have chosen a more fitting name if we'd tried.

Today, we're home to an ever-growing and changing flock, from our much-loved family hens to beautiful pure breeds and dedicated breeding groups. We hatch and carefully raise chicks, growers and poultry, as well as offering fertile hatching eggs from our flock.

But The Chicken Barm is about much more than simply selling chickens.

We share the real side of keeping them too - the exciting hatches, broody hens, new arrivals, lessons we've learnt, mistakes we've made and the inevitable chaos that comes with building a flock alongside family life.

Our focus is simple: happy, healthy birds raised with care, and helping more people discover just how wonderful keeping chickens can be.
